Motovun Film Festival is inviting submissions for the short-film program of its 2020 edition, taking place between 28 July and 1 August 2020. Submissions can be sent via FilmFreeway.com or ShortFilmDepot.com platforms and the deadline is 15 May.
Eligible for submission are the films of up to twenty minutes of running time that had their world premiere in 2019 or 2020, provided they did not have their Croatian premiere. The programmer will select twenty films to be shown as part of the festival’s competition program Motovun Shorts.
Last year, Motovun Film Festival became a partner of the European Film Academy’s Best Short Film Award. This means that a European film from our program, selected by the festival jury, will be submitted as one of the 25 films competing for the “European Oscar”, a prestigious award given to the best European short film of the year.
In our first participation in this European Film Academy project, our awarded short film Reconstruction (by Jiri Havliček and Ondrej Novak, Czech Republic) made it to the five films shortlisted for the EFA Award. We can proudly claim that our festival contributed substantially to the European visibility of the winner of our short-film program.
As part of its efforts to promote national and regional films and authors, Motovun Film Festival waives the submission fees for the films from Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, Macedonia, Slovenia and Serbia.
Motovun Film Festival does not accept submissions of feature-length films. Acceptance into this competition program is by invita
