Opportunity for First-Time Feature Filmmakers: Apply to the ‘My First Script’ Workshop at Zagreb Film Festival!

Dear members,

We are pleased to share a fantastic opportunity for directors and screenwriters preparing their first feature film:

Applications are now open for the ‘My First Script’ Workshop, part of the Industry program at the Zagreb Film Festival (ZFF), taking place November 10–16, 2025 in Zagreb, Croatia.

Participation in the workshop is free of charge, and travel and accommodation costs will be covered for international participants.

About the Workshop:

• Designed for filmmakers working on the screenplay of their debut feature film.

• Focus on intensive, practical work under the mentorship of experienced script doctors.

• Strong emphasis on group collaboration and constructive feedback in a relaxed, professional environment.

Eligibility:

• Open to filmmakers from Croatia and other European countries, including MEDIA Sub-programme member states (Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, North Macedonia, and Turkey).

• Six participants will be selected: 2 from Croatia and 4 from other eligible countries.

Application Requirements:

• Brief biography with personal details

• Synopsis

• Screenplay or treatment, along with at least 3 developed scenes

Note:

Projects from Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, and Montenegro may be submitted in native languages, but selected authors must provide an English translation by mid-October.

Announcement of Results: Early October 2025.

The workshop is co-organized by ZFF and the Croatian Film Directors’ Guild (DHFR). Over 13 editions, it has supported 72 projects across Europe, significantly advancing many debut films toward production and release.
