Kamil Saldun is a Cypriot filmmaker. He studied History and completed a Master’s degree in History Teaching. Actively engaged in theatre since 1999, he has performed in numerous productions and participated in international theatre festivals. Alongside his practice as a filmmaker, he works internationally as a film and video art editor. He is a board member of the Directors Guild of Cyprus.
Since 2011, Kamil has been collaborating with Iranian filmmaker Sholeh Zahraei, co-writing, co-directing, and producing films exploring identity, memory, and the social, cultural, and political realities of Cyprus. Their films have been recognized at international film festivals and art exhibitions.
In 2016, they were selected for a workshop in Cuba mentored by Abbas Kiarostami, where they produced a short film together.
Their film The Hunt is the first Cypriot fiction to address homophobia and patriarchy from an intersectional perspective, created in collaboration with Cypriot film professionals and LGBTIQ+ organizations across the divide. It was recently included in the European Film Academy selection, _ Underscore: The Evolution of Cypriot Cinema.
In 2018, they were selected by curator Nicolas Vamvouklis to contribute to the Imago Mundi Cyprus Collection, part of the art collection of works commissioned and collected by Luciano Benetton on his travels around the world.
In 2024, their short film Gomşu was selected by curators Dr. Yiannis Toumazis and Demetra Ignatiou for the ongoing Cyprus Insula exhibition at the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation in Nicosia.
In 2025, Kamil and Sholeh established their film production company, Ocean of Emotions Films, in Cyprus. They are currently developing their feature project, Shepherd Scar, in its financing phase, while writing their second feature, Linobambaki, both centered on Cyprus’ historical complexities.

Ο Κάμιλ Σαλντούν είναι Κύπριος κινηματογραφιστής. Σπούδασε Ιστορία και ολοκλήρωσε μεταπτυχιακές σπουδές στη Διδακτική της Ιστορίας. Ενεργός στο θέατρο από το 1999, έχει συμμετάσχει ως ηθοποιός σε πολυάριθμες παραστάσεις και διεθνή θεατρικά φεστιβάλ. Παράλληλα με το κινηματογραφικό του έργο, εργάζεται διεθνώς ως μοντέρ κινηματογράφου και βιντεοτέχνης. Είναι μέλος του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου της Συντεχνίας Σκηνοθετών Κύπρου.
Από το 2011 συνεργάζεται με την Ιρανή κινηματογραφίστρια Σολέ Ζαχραέι, συνυπογράφοντας το σενάριο, τη σκηνοθεσία και την παραγωγή ταινιών που διερευνούν ζητήματα ταυτότητας, μνήμης, καθώς και τις κοινωνικές, πολιτισμικές και πολιτικές πραγματικότητες της Κύπρου. Οι ταινίες τους έχουν διακριθεί σε διεθνή κινηματογραφικά φεστιβάλ και εκθέσεις τέχνης.
Το 2016 επιλέχθηκαν να συμμετάσχουν σε εργαστήριο στην Κούβα με μέντορα τον Abbas Kiarostami, όπου δημιούργησαν από κοινού μια ταινία μικρού μήκους.
Η ταινία τους The Hunt αποτελεί την πρώτη κυπριακή ταινία μυθοπλασίας που προσεγγίζει την ομοφοβία και την πατριαρχία μέσα από μια διαθεματική οπτική, σε συνεργασία με επαγγελματίες του κινηματογράφου και οργανώσεις ΛΟΑΤΚΙ+ από ολόκληρη την Κύπρο. Πρόσφατα συμπεριλήφθηκε στην επιλογή της European Film Academy _Underscore: The Evolution of Cypriot Cinema.
Το 2018 επιλέχθηκαν από τον επιμελητή Nicolas Vamvouklis για να συμμετάσχουν στη Συλλογή Imago Mundi Cyprus, η οποία αποτελεί μέρος της διεθνούς καλλιτεχνικής συλλογής έργων που ανέθεσε και συγκέντρωσε ο Luciano Benetton κατά τη διάρκεια των ταξιδιών του ανά τον κόσμο.
Το 2024, η ταινία μικρού μήκους τους Gomşu επιλέχθηκε από τους επιμελητές Yiannis Toumazis και Demetra Ignatiou για τη συνεχιζόμενη έκθεση Cyprus Insula στο Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation στη Λευκωσία.
Το 2025, ο Κάμιλ και η Σολέχ ίδρυσαν στην Κύπρο την εταιρεία παραγωγής Ocean of Emotions Films.
