Markos Kassinos
Film Director, Video Artist, Commercials Director
Markos Kassinos is a Cyprus-based filmmaker with over fourteen years of experience, obsessed with the complexity of ordinary lives. He studied Film/Cinema Studies and Digital Arts & Media at Canterbury Christ Church University (BA, 2008) before returning to Cyprus to found THELUM and later JUNO12 productions. He has directed documentaries, commercials, short films, and music videos for clients including the Press and Information Office, the Italian Embassy in Cyprus, the Department of Antiquities, Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, Lexus and Mitsides.
His documentary series 'Myths of Cyprus', produced for the Press and Information Office, premiered across nine European countries. His short film Αποδοχή – Acceptance (2023) won the Second Prize for Best Cypriot Short at the International Short Film Festival of Cyprus (2024).
His work centers on cinematic storytelling, cultural heritage and authentic human portraiture. He is also active in mentoring aspiring filmmakers and creatives.
Ο Μάρκος Κασσίνος είναι Κύπριος σκηνοθέτης με πάνω από δεκατέσσερα χρόνια εμπειρίας, αφοσιωμένος στην πολυπλοκότητα των καθημερινών ανθρώπων. Σπούδασε Film/Cinema Studies και Digital Arts & Media στο Canterbury Christ Church University (BA, 2008) πριν επιστρέψει στην Κύπρο και ιδρύσει τις εταιρείες παραγωγής THELUM και αργότερα JUNO12 έχει σκηνοθετήσει ντοκιμαντέρ, διαφημιστικά, ταινίες μικρού μήκους και μουσικά βίντεο για πελάτες όπως το Γραφείο Τύπου και Πληροφοριών, η Ιταλική Πρεσβεία στην Κύπρο, το Τμήμα Αρχαιοτήτων, Υφυπουργείο Έρευνας, Καινοτομίας και Ψηφιακής Πολιτικής, η Lexus και η Μιτσίδης.
Η σειρά ντοκιμαντέρ 'Μύθοι της Κύπρου', που παράχθηκε για το Γραφείο Τύπου και Πληροφοριών, έκανε πρεμιέρα σε εννέα ευρωπαϊκές χώρες. Η ταινία μικρού μήκους 'Αποδοχή-Acceptance' (2023) κέρδισε το Δεύτερο Βραβείο Καλύτερης Κυπριακής Ταινίας στο Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Ταινιών Μικρού Μήκους Κύπρου (2024).
Το έργο του εστιάζει στην κινηματογραφική αφήγηση, την πολιτιστική κληρονομιά και σε ανθρώπινα πορτρέτα και ιστορίες. Παράλληλα, δραστηριοποιείται στην καθοδήγηση νέων κινηματογραφιστών και δημιουργών.
